# Labels

Labels in automation can be added in two other steps, **tagging** or an **update.**

**In the Tags step:**

By appending or rewriting, as described in the [**Labels**](https://docs.pushpushgo.company/subscribers/labels) section.

**In the Update step:**

By appending or rewriting, as described in the [**Labels**](https://docs.pushpushgo.company/subscribers/labels) section, without adding the TTL value.

{% hint style="warning" %}
The **Tags** and **Update** steps are remnants from the previous system implementation. Currently, they are adapted to work with **labels** in the old app views. We aim to merge everything into a single **Labels** step in which the labels will be defined.
